| 1. In no more than 100 words tell us a bit about yourself.
My name is Joe Craig, I’m 23 and was born and raised in Glasgow. I mix various genres of music, Hardstyle, Hardcore, Commercial Trance & Bounce, though Hardstyle is what I enjoy best. I’ve been making mix cds since 2002 and i’m now hitting my 200th release. I won a Newbreed dj competition in Glasgow late 2005 and have progressed to various bookings from there. 2. When did you first show an interest in DJ’ing / producing? Nine years ago when I was 14 I decided I wanted to give DJ’ing a go. I grew up listening to hardcore but this wasn’t reflected in my mixing as hardcore was going through a transition at this period. Mainstream trance seemed more popular, so the first record i bought was Lost Witness – 7 Colours. I then discovered the European hands up scene and that became my main genre for mixing, but as my ambition grew i knew i had to cover other genres. Hardcore was as big as ever and Hardstyle started to creep its way into my mixes, both genres have been where I’ve had success in bookings. Producing —– Is forthcoming 3. Who would you say have influenced you over the years musically? I was always amazed with Dj Sy’s scratching through sets, and as a pup I used to put Dougals mix on the bonkers CDs on repeat daily so I’d have to say them. I Must mention Technikal too, I find his productions at a different class from the rest. I only started to introduce Hardstyle into my mixes in around ’06, but Zany has been top dog since then. 4. What has been your favourite event to-date and why? Infexious, 6th February 2010 (Dutch Invasion night) I was on just before the Headliners and the place was packing with familiar faces. It’s always good when you get a large personal turnout, it’s probably the most people i’ve had at the onetime come to see me. The set I played went down a treat and for those reasons its my favourite event to date. 5. What other artists would you recommend in the scene at the moment? 1 name, Nitroflux. He’s an up and coming Scottish Hardstyle producer who is starting to get serious with his productions. Releases like Sorrow & Subtle have made me stand up and take notice. Its great to have someone home-grown on the way up, lookout for his Debut EP forthcoming on Infexious Digital. One not-to-be missed ! 6. What would you say is your favourite record label at the moment? Fusion records. Dj Zany’s releases of course have all come under this label, and recently Noisecontrollers have joined the label releasing The Surge Of Power EPs which were just HUGE ! 7. What would you say has been your biggest achievement in your djing career so far? Being on the line-up for the NYE ’09 event @ Fantasy Island, Skegness. The sheer size of the event makes it special and the fact that it was New Years Eve ! I played a gabber set b2b with Chris Craig, right after Scorpio and Ribbz. Thanks to T&B for the booking. 8. What’s the strangest thing you have ever seen at an event? I’ve been to that many events now that nothing seems strange, you can expect to see anything and everything. 9. What can we expect from you in the future? Productions (Finally !) I’m working on making my own tracks under the alias Joe-C-Rage. Got a long way to go, but expect to see me feature on some releases alongside Nitroflux. In DJ terms, more bookings and hopefully working my way towards a residency. 10. Do you have a message for the Infexious crew? Infexious is my favourite of all the T&B nights, it attracts a respectable crowd who are knowledgeable in their music. Just keep showing your support as I do, coz i’m one of you ! |
