1. In no more than 100 words tell us a bit about yourself.

My alter ego “A-lusion” was born many years ago, when I fel in love with the hardstyle sound and it’s energetic crowd.

I’ve grown in the past years to a versatile producer and DJ who can create and play any type of hardstyle. From uplifting or emotional to hard banging hardstyle. I like it all as long as it’s musical and quality. I produced over 30 vinyl ep’s, am featured on over 200 different compilation cds and played at events such as: Qlimax, Q-base, DefQon, InQontrol, XQlusive, HardBass, etc. The past 1.5 years I’ve produced and performed as “Second Identity”.

2. When did you first show an interest in DJ’ing / producing?

My first DJ / producing experience started back in 1997, when I was introduced to the world of computer music production. Back then, still in operating system DOS with FastTracker2. I also bought my first turntable and mixer around that time.

When I attended one of the first (small) Qlimax parties in 2001, I was hooked to the hardstyle sound!

3. Who would you say have influenced you over the years musically?

In the beginning my main influence came from other hardstyle producers which were doing great back then. In the most recent years I’ve been getting my inspiration from other music genres, but not from individual producers. I love to listen to soundtracks, orchestral music and get inspired by that.. But also by for instance pop music and trance music.

4. What has been your favourite event to-date and why?

For sure this must be Qlimax. This is where it all started for me as a lover of the hardstyle sound. And this has been my absolutely favorite event to play at until now. Every edition is unique and breathtaking.

5. What other artists would you recommend in the scene at the moment?

To be honest I’m not digging all “new popular” artists at the moment. Hardstyle has grown bigger and this also caused some hardstyle being produced at a less musical level. Besides that it’s unfortunately not that much about DJing anymore these days. Many hardstyle DJs plays their own music without any creativity in tracklisting and mixing. And most of them play without “feeling the crowd”. (There will always remain a DJ in my heart, so you can expect some tricks and surprises from me during a set of course).

There are a few artists who provide constant quality as producers. Therefor I’d go for Scope DJ, Technoboy, Zatox and Noisecontrollers.

6. What would you say is your favourite record label at the moment?

No favorites in particular. Fusion, Digital Age, DMW, Scantraxx, Saifam, etc. They all produce quality stuff! Sometimes I get surprised by any of the other labels too of course. I listen to tracks, not labels in particular.

7. What would you say has been your biggest achievement in your DJ’ing career so far?

As a DJ I’m extremely proud on playing on so many different events, in so many countries. The biggest achievements are playing in front of 30.000 people on Qlimax 2009, 25.000 people on HardBass 2010 and playing in Australia 3 times!

8. What’s the strangest thing you have ever seen at an event?

That has to be the “human pyramids” in a club in Italy. People were running towards each other and climbing on shoulders to create a pyramid. Crazy stuff.. I didn’t want to stand in that crowd :-)

9. What can we expect from you in the future?

My plan is to grow even bigger as an artist, producer and DJ. I want to do this by focusing more on the A-lusion sound, working on albums, video’s, etc. Get ready because I’ve only just begun!

10. Do you have a message for the Infexious crew?

Thanks for having me on your event for the first time. I love playing in the UK, because of it’s crazy crowds and open-minded party-people.

I will bring you a bag of brand new tunes and I will give you the A-lusion sound which fits the night best!
